Pedal-Powered Bicycle Brake Lights: Test Ride and New Parts

Since presenting my progress on Wednesday, I received the geared-motors and wheels in the mail and they are awesome!

I’ve replaced the parts and made some adjustment to how the motor is attached to the bike. I used two interlocking hose clamps and it is much, much more secure. Also the wheel now spins on the inside of the wheel instead of the outside. I soldered some wires on the motor, but I still need to solder the rest and replace the aluminum foil with conductive tape. My tape and bottle solution for the switch works for now, but it’s still something I’d like to think more about.

I also need to attach the second light on the left side of the handlebar. Just at the moment my bike is a little bruised, and I lost the plug on the other end. I’m hoping a bike shop can give me one.

Here’s some photos and video from today’s progress.

These are the lights I’m embedding in the handlebars.
