Final Project Proposal – Idea 1: Cards Interface

Having completed our presentation of the ME&Useum at Applications, we had collected a number of personal stories from our classmates. Since I came to ITP interested in interface design and user experience, I thought it might be interesting to design and code an interface for these stories.

The stories are handwritten in black Sharpie ink on 4″x6″ cards of different colors. They kind of look like this.

They are also sorted by 6 categories.

The interface I’m imagining is not anything we haven’t seen before, but maybe when I present today, my classmates will have some ideas.

The cards will look like they are piled up, the same way they were in the ME&Useum presentation, but in a corner.

Then on rollover, they would spread out into a grid.

Then when you rollover one item, it’ll highlight.

Then on click, it would zoom in, putting the rest of the cards back in the corner.

From here, you can click on the pile to open the grid again, or click on the card to load the next one. Click anywhere else to close.

This is more an exercise in math, animation, and controlling states in Processing. But I’m also interested in playing with video in Processing, which brings me to my second idea, Watch Out! Tomatoes!
